Theoretical Content (1 Hour)
K-Theorem Pillar: Performance Pyramid, Movement Matrix

👉 This course currently includes theoretical content only.
📅 Registration for face-to-face practical classes will be available soon. Stay tuned!

1. Course Overview

This course teaches you how to coach, cue, and correct movement in a group setting. The focus is on improving safety, engagement, and results for both general populations and athletic clients.

You’ll learn to deliver classes that aren’t just energetic—but meaningful. Build the skills to guide movement, explain its purpose, and ensure every participant benefits—physically and mentally.

Anyone can teach a class. The best instructors show why each exercise matters, explain the science, and leave a lasting impact.

2. Learning Objectives

By the end of the theory session, you will be able to:

  • Coach foundational movements with effective cues.
  • Correct form in a clear, respectful, and empowering way.
  • Explain the “why” behind each exercise for improved client engagement.
  • Build scalable programs suited for mixed-ability groups.
  • Use the K-Theorem to link exercise, life function, and performance.

3. Core Theoretical Concepts

A. The Purpose-Driven Instructor

  • Great instructors don’t just run a class—they deliver transformation.
  • They explain why we squat, push, hinge, or balance—not just how.
  • Every cue should lead to improved form, function, or confidence.

B. Movement Science in a Class Format

  • Warm-Up: Mobilise, activate, and mentally engage.
  • Main Set: Target specific energy systems (aerobic, anaerobic), muscle groups, and skills.
  • Cool-Down: Downregulate the nervous system, reduce DOMS, and improve recovery.
  • Training Principles:
    • Overload, progression, rest, and variation.
    • Relate back to tissue load and injury prevention.

4. Cueing and Correction Framework

Cue TypePurposeExample
VisualDemonstrate mechanics“Watch how my knees stay over my toes.”
VerbalDirect timing, control, or intention“Brace your core—now move.”
Tactile (if allowed)Subtle guidance for proprioceptionLight touch on scapula to cue retraction.
MotivationalDrive effort and intent“This is where you level up—dig in.”

💡 Good cueing guides technique. Great cueing changes intent.

5. Programming Principles

  • Keep movements simple but scalable: regress or progress on the fly.
  • Always include unilateral, core, and postural movements.
  • Integrate timing formats: Tabata, EMOM, AMRAP, circuits.
  • Watch for fatigue patterns: adjust rest, intensity, or reps based on group energy.
  • Keep transitions clean and flow continuous.

6. Leadership and Group Energy

  • Set the energy tone from the first second.
  • Position yourself where you can see, support, and adjust.
  • Use client names, eye contact, and positive reinforcement.
  • Balance intensity with safety—never sacrifice form for speed.

7. Educating While Coaching

“This lunge isn’t just for legs—it trains your hip control, protects your knees, and transfers to running or climbing stairs.”

Each exercise is a moment to educate and empower. People connect better when they understand how and why the movement matters in their life.

9. Case Reflection Prompt

  • “What was one moment where your cue changed someone’s movement or energy?”
  • “How do you explain the value of an exercise to someone doing it for the first time?”
